Honestly though, there is probably a Taylor Swift song for any given time in your life whether you love her or love to hate her.

I’ve been in love with Opus Orange for awhile now, and this song from their new EP has been resonating with me as of late. Such incredible and poetic lyrics.

“All these colors in my head—burning yellows, fiery reds—whisper things unsaid on this feather bed, ‘Just lay on this feather bed. Let’s explode without a sound. Push and pull. Breathe and drown. Get lost and never found. I’ll wind you up; you wind me down. Let’s come unwound.’”

Life is like a song you fall in love with. At first, you love it so much that you play it over and over again, but then the radio starts playing it repetitively. The song is everywhere, breathing down your neck. You begin to hate it and even go out of your way to avoid it until eventually it fades. Then, there comes that day…the day you hear the song after all the bad memories are gone. It’s right then and there when you realize why you fell in love with it to start with.

This is pure sex…that saxophone though. I still cannot believe I’ll be seeing them up close and personal come May. I will be “fangirling” so hard.

Beyoncé - “Partition”

Yes! This is my favorite song off her surprise album. It has a great beat and catchy (and scandalous) lyrics. Some people have been arguing how Beyoncé is being a slut and/or whore. However, unlike most her fellow music stars, she has been married only once. She and her husband have a child. Their love life is still blissful after all the years, and she is singing to him about their love. That’s not being a slut. That’s romantic in the best ways.

There is just something about this new single from Neon Trees. I cannot stop listening. It’s suggestive, upbeat, and catchy.

"I never said you’d be easy, but if it was all up to me…I’d be no trouble."

9 minutes and 36 seconds of bittersweet heartbreak.
Honestly, I’ve been listening to this on repeat for the last week.
"It’s to Jimmy Eat World and those nights in my car when the first star you see may not be a star. I’m not your star."

Really, I’ve had “Harlem” by New Politics on repeat for the last couple of weeks. The lead singer’s voice is smooth like butter. Give them a listen.

My friend Katrina wrote a song about Lord of the Rings. And it’s good. Give it a listen. Lyrics below.

"Letters To Sauron"

Katrina Barclay

All Rights Reserved

[Saruman]:

If I built a tower out of rock and stone

Would you come visit me at my new home?

Would you share the power coming from my stove?

We could have a cup of tea and then a smoke

[Sauron]:

I don’t need your tea, I’ve got my own

And as for power, I thought you would know

I made this ring to rule them all

And I get my smoke from a volcano

[Saruman]:

I really didn’t mean to make you mad

I know you’re touchy and that’s kind of sad

But Sauron, would it be all that bad

To have a wizard friend who’s got your back?

[Sauron]:

Come to think you it, you may be right

The company I keep is quite a sight

The orcs are always getting in a fight

And The Nazgul leave at all hours of the night

Just want you to know I left my heart in Minas Morgul

Nobody here thinks I’m over it

Saruman, I must admit I’m a bit paranormal

And I think the World of Men is full of it.

[Saruman]:

I’m so glad you’ll come to Isengard

The journey here isn’t all that far

But use the palantir if you can’t see the stars

Can’t wait to share this leaf from the Southfarthing

Just want you to know I sent Grima Wormtongue packing

He tried to set the place on fire

I get a kick of holding Gandalf Greyhame captive

I hope that’s the kind of thing you like

Beyoncé just pulled off one of the best-kept secrets in recent music history. Without as much as a hint, she stealthily released an entire studio album complete with 14 new songs AND 17 music videos. This sneak attack is a brilliant move in guerrilla marketing, and I applaud her efforts. Yes, I purchased the album. They call her “Queen B” for a reason.
